About iNNTD
interNational Nanny Training Day (iNNTD) is a global event dedicated to uplifting, educating, and celebrating nannies and childcare professionals. Each year, cities around the world come together on the same day to host workshops, share knowledge, and build stronger, more connected communities.
This will be the first iNNTD held in Columbus in ten years — a chance to bring our local nanny community together for a day of learning, inspiration, and appreciation for the incredible work nannies do every day.
Our theme this year is “Nannying Through the Ages” — we’ll explore caregiving through every developmental stage, from newborns to school-age children. Learn from an inspiring lineup of newborn care specialists, speech therapists, Montessori educators, and more!

Topic: Baby’s First Foods & Mealtime Safety
101 Before One
In this session, you’ll learn about the two most common approaches to starting solids—parent-led purée feeding and baby-led feeding with finger foods. We’ll cover what typical mealtime behaviors look like for babies beginning solids, including gagging, food throwing, and the inevitable mess, along with practical ways to respond. You’ll also learn how to safely prepare, cook, and serve food for babies 6 months and older, how to recognize the signs of an allergic reaction and what to do if one occurs, and how to have thoughtful conversations with parents about starting solids and their preferences around mealtime.
Julie Laux
Julie Laux is a local mom of two and the founder of 101 Before One, a national infant nutrition and feeding education organization led by pediatric doctors. She is a three-time published author, including Baby Leads the Way, published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. As a Starting Solids Specialist, Julie helps parents and caregivers understand evidence-based best practices for introducing foods to babies through purees, finger foods, and baby-led feeding.
This session will give nannies practical, easy-to-implement speech and language strategies they can begin using immediately. We’ll focus on how to intentionally set up the environment to encourage communication, use simple modeling techniques to expand language, recognize early signs of speech and language concerns, and build connection through play, narration, and boundaries. The goal is to help caregivers feel confident supporting language development in everyday moments — without needing to be a specialist.
Topic: SLP Tools Every Nanny Can Use Tomorrow; Creating Communication Opportunities in Everyday Care.

Her session is a must for nannies who want to understand communication development, partner effectively with parents, and help every child feel seen, heard, and supported.
