Meet The Founders
Raven Carter
INA Nanny of the Year 2026 Top 5 Finalist
With over a decade of experience as a career nanny, early childhood educator, and certified Doula, Raven has dedicated her life to supporting families and caregivers. She founded The Heart State Nanny Agency to create a community built on trust, personalized care, and long-term relationships—bridging the gaps she experienced firsthand in the childcare industry.
A proud member of the International Nanny Association, Raven blends professionalism with her vibrant personality. When she’s not leading her agency, she’s exploring her love for cooking, giraffes, and Scotland, or adding to her collection of Taylor Swift tattoos. Through The Heart State Nanny Agency, Raven is redefining what it means to truly care for families and nannies.
Megan Johnson
INA Nanny of the Year 2026 Top 5 Finalist
Megan has always been fueled by curiosity, creativity, and a love for adventure. Her career as a professional nanny allows her to wear many hats—whether she’s leading scientific discoveries on a nature hike, channeling her inner artist with glitter and paint, or building culinary masterpieces with her nanny kids. Every day brings new opportunities to inspire curiosity, creativity, and growth in the children she cares for.
As Megan’s passion for childcare deepened, so did her commitment to professional development. She pursued training in newborn care, trauma-informed practices, connection-centered discipline, early childhood development, and more. Along the way, she became a mentor and advocate within the nanny community, encouraging others to elevate industry standards and embrace continued learning.
Our Mission
As a trusted Columbus nanny agency, we’re committed to helping families find high-quality, professional care tailored to their needs. Our mission is to connect families with experienced, vetted and professional nannies who are dedicated to helping children grow, learn, and thrive. Co-founded by Raven and Megan—two passionate career nannies with over a decade of experience each—this agency was built with one goal: to elevate the childcare experience for families and caregivers alike. Together, we believe in building bridges between families and nannies through personalized placements, ongoing mentorship, and a commitment to professionalism. Whether you’re a busy professional, first-time parent, or looking for specialized care such as newborn or special needs support, we’re here to make your childcare journey stress-free and full of heart.
At The Heart State Nanny Agency, we lead with heart and care with purpose—because every child and every family deserves the best support.
We Do Things Differently
Our nannies don't just pass a background check and show up. They are part of an active professional community that attends trainings, develops professionally, and is supported long after placement.
We hosted interNational Nanny Training Day in Columbus in 2026, the first in nearly 15 years, because we believe continued education makes better caregivers.
Both of our founders were named Top 5 Finalists for INA Nanny of the Year 2026, one of the most competitive recognitions in the nanny industry.
★★★★★
“The ladies of The Heart State Nanny Agency are everything a family and a nanny looking for a family need! Due to their experiences as nannies they are able to provide the tools and knowledge necessary for a perfect fit.
The workshops they have created are extremely beneficial for a nanny in search of a new family to provide care for. As someone who considers themselves a veteran in providing care for children, I have learned so much from them, that I feel I can be an even better child care provider.”
